Did you make the mistake of thinking that it must be the same word in Greek that was being translated as cleave and then build a theology on it that you have been unwilling to amend once you realized the error?

Thats the same as saying sex=marriage. My initial reaction was to the word cleave(in english). Dabaq is not necessarily sex but alludes to it. Marry occurs later as in "a duty to perform" and everybody winks and knods.
Now back to TTWCM...
