10 Tribes

almost right away, I see a verse that means the Romans...

G1484 = Ethnos

Mat 20:19 And shall deliver him to the Gentiles G1484 to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.

It is where we get the term Ethnicity from and basically can be used of ANY 'family of the earth"

Context is really the ONLY way to interpret or understand this.

There are probably the better part of a dozen specific references to the "Ten Lost Tribes" in Scripture. Often referred to as Israel, after the split at the time of Solomon's two sons, and the northern kingdom, they are very often also called after their primary line of kings, Ephraim. Also the "lost sheep," Samaria, 'Ahola' by the prophet, one of the two sticks, and at least a few specific references to cities or other regions...

Mat 24:7 For nation G1484 shall rise against nation G1484 , and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
Mat 24:8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
Mat 24:9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations G1484 for my name's sake.

Here in verse 7 we see Ethnos appears to mean ethnicity... In verse 9 it appears to mean nations...

So then Ethnos can mean what most Christians think of when they read the word Gentile? As in, people not genetically related to Abraham?

Can mean that at times, yes. Always? No. Context is still king! :-)

Here is one that I believe does mean exactly Non-Israelite Nations...

Gal_3:8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen G1484 through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations G1484 be blessed.

Gal 3:29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

No longer a Gentile or a Jew but, grafted into Israel....

This is the Grafting into the green olive tree that Paul spoke of...

What does this passage mean?

“These twelve Jesus sent out and commanded them, saying: "Do not go into the way of the Gentiles [ethnos], and do not enter a city of the Samaritans. [6] But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” Matthew 10:5-6 NKJV

What is Jesus saying in this passage? It seems like he is saying, DO NOT GO to the northern 10 tribes, but instead DO GO to the northern 10 tribes.

Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

There were Jews that were lost as well. So they were the first to receive the Word. This was also before the crucification, and before he rose. But after he rose:

Matthew 28:18-19
18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations/gentiles (ethnos).

Some of them thought now is the time for the restoration of the Kingdom of Israel.

Acts 1:6-8
6 Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.

That's what they did. First to the lost sheep of the house of Israel among the Jews, and then to the rest.

The rest of what?
To all of the people from the other nations. Many of which have long forgotten their identity, and have assimilated with the customs of the nations. And remember - the Northern Kingdom (10 lost tribes) were given a certificate of divorce, and exiled through Assyrian captivity. From the time Yahushua the Messiah showed up - and when the certificate was given - many hundreds of years has past. So they would of mixed with the other nations through inter-marriage.

So to anyone that the Father in Heaven draws near.

Jeremiah 16:16
But now I am sending for many fishermen who will catch them,” says the LORD. “I am sending for hunters who will hunt them

Matthew 4:19
“Come, follow Me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.”

Acts 11:12
The Holy Spirit told me to go with them and not to worry that they were Gentiles.

Acts 10:34-35
Then Peter replied, “I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism. 35 In every nation he accepts those who fear him and do what is right.

Acts 11:18
When the others heard this, they stopped objecting and began praising God. They said, “We can see that God has also given the Gentiles the privilege of repenting of their sins and receiving eternal life.”
