This is rambling but...

Catching up on all the posts you missed? :D

Great, now I realize that the lurkers are probably saying that I grow and smoke pot. Oh, well, it was just a question based on the aspect of man's law vs. God's law and how the church sees government. Sin in one state, not in another type of thing. Nevermind.

No,

I completely understand your points "render unto ceasear" and all that. Right? :?

This is TRUE.

Statistics show that in nearly 100% of autopsied deaths in the US and world-wide, the deceased can be shown to have that pernicious compound H2O circulating in their blood. Perhaps we'd best do away with it. Or at least make it illegal. Or at least let the government regulate its use.

"Sir! Step out of your vehicle. Unless you can show a current government permit, I'm going to have to search your trunk for contraband water. A breath test will be required. Please breathe on this mirror.

"Oops! The evidence would seem to suggest that you've been imbibing again, sir! When is the last time you used some water?

"Oops again, sir! I see your blood H2O LEVEL is nearly 76%! Way above the government approved maximums.

"Listen, sir. You're just a user. We're not really too interested in you. We're after Mr. Big. The DA will probably cut you a deal if you will quietly finger your supplier. WHAT? GOD?!!! You IDIOT! There ain't no God. Why we've absolutely PROVEN ...

"HEY!!! WHY DID MY LEFT HAND JUST CRUMBLE TO DUST AND BLOW AWAY?"

Farfetched? Really?

In general it is best if you can get to a place where you can sleep on your own. My pastor meditates on Psalm 4:8 to sleep, he used sleep meds decades ago but has not needed them since that.
Right on. Having a good prayer before bed is good medicine. My wife and I read the bedtime prayers from the Siddur before sleeping and, let me tell you, it puts her to sleep! :D

I agreed with the vast majority of what DukeOfMarshall said on this topic. I agree that cannabis should be decriminalised and regulated in a similar fashion to other helpful drugs.

Perhaps one of the reasons the government is so into persecuting people who use cannabis is they want to have more "slaves" in their privatised prisons who will provide cheap labour and help them degenerate society and the freedoms people have even further. Think of all those people in jail for bogus mandatory minimum sentences for small amounts of cannabis who are away from their spouses and children. If you look at the number of African American single mothers there are you'd be amazed.

I'm a Paramedic and it's my job to push opiates like Morphine, Demerol, and Fentanyl into people to help them during a crisis. Hashem gave us alcohol, food, opium, cocaine, and cannabis to help us. It is obvious that these substances can be abused, but let's not throw out the baby with the bath water.
