Miracles of God

The other day I was listening to this song called “Miracle Worker” by Forrest Frank and Tori Kelly, and it made me start thinking about the moments in my life that I would consider Miracles. Moments in my life when God moved in such a powerful way that I can only give him glory for what happened. I was so encouraged by these memories that I wanted to share a few of them with Biblical Families, in hope of reminding you that even when your life seems out of control emotionally, and or physically, that God is always present and is working his will in your life for his glory and your benefit.

One of the first miracles I experienced was when I was in 6th grade. I was at an Assembly of God summer church camp with my family. In the Youth service the speaker invited us to come forward for prayer. I don’t remember if I waited long or short, but I ended up going up front and asking for prayer for God to heal a defect in my right foot, which I had had from birth, that required me to wear a specialized insole in my shoes. God met me in a sweet yet powerful way that night as he healed my foot; in faith I took that insole out of my shoe and never wore it again.

Another miracle that I saw God do was to bring my son’s girlfriend, at the time, into our home and out of an abusive family life. She had traveled to Summer Retreat with us and as we came home my son asked if she could move into our home for a little while. He feared for her wellbeing if she stayed with her mom and older sister, who were both verbally, and sometimes physically, abusive to her. We agreed to let her come for a short time if her mother would allow it. I personally wondered how any mother would allow their child to live with others, especially one who wanted to control their daughter, but I prayed all the way home from retreat that God would make a way if this was to be His will. We arrived back home, and my son took her to her home to talk with her mom about it. When they arrived all her stuff was packed up (by her sister) and her mom asked her to find a place to live because her sister wanted to have her room! Baylie, ended up staying with us for her Senior year of High School and about 3 more years after, while she went to community college and worked. She is now in the final stages of getting a PhD in Neuroscience, and lives in Sweden near her father. I believe God saved her life that day.

The last miracle I want to share is the answer to 10 years of prayer for my heart to be free from the anger that I felt deep inside it. God had been peeling away layer after layer of hurts and untruths for those 10 years, but something was still deep inside me that I just couldn’t shake. I won’t go into all the details but in 2016 He met me at a very low moment of my life and told me “It is time” as he touched my chest with his hand and freed me from the last stronghold of anger that was put there by my hurting mom when I was a child. He knew I was going to need to be free of this anger because a short time later God asked us to care for my husband’s nephew and niece who, by their early teens, had lost their mom, dad and grandmother. It was a difficult path at times, but I believe that God saved their lives through our obedience to bring them into our home and gave us the tools to accomplish it.

“God’s timing is never early, never late” as Toby Mac sang in “Help is on the Way.” I have been blessed to truly understand these words as I have seen a few more miracles as my life has continued on. I am amazed at His power and love as he makes them happen.

I hope you will listen to “Miracle Worker” at least once and reflect on how God has worked in the past and thus remember how faithful he is to work in the present.

I believe in God's miraculous wonder working power! Thank you for sharing those with us. That is so encouraging!

Rev 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
Rev 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
