January 20th 2025 - Donald Trump is BACK!

You might want to check the meaning of the word “recipients”.
I might be confused. My understanding is that all these "people" are listed as existing in a database somewhere and having a social security number.

I don't know if that means that all of them are necessarily being paid. I don't think it does.

I imagine there might be millions of non existent people receiving social security payments, but it probably isn't anywhere near 60 million.

The Social Security Administration is probably paying out hundreds of billions of dollars of fraudulent payments each year, not the trillions of dollars that the linked Twitter post suggests.

I know the Twitter/X post says "recipients", but I don't know if the poster is correct. I have no idea who this guy is.

If Trump or Musk tell me there are 60 million fake social security beneficiaries then I'll probably believe it.

Usually when a numerical value is included then someone is cashing the check. I wonder when the clawback might start. Go back a few years- maybe 10 or 20 years? This really needs the "want to" on the part of bureaucrats to get done. Undoubtedly some will "slow walk" the process. The exec(Trump) can issue all the EO he wants but the machine must do its part.

Please reread it.
394 million Social Security recipients
Every one of those are receiving benefits.
Does Musk need to state it differently for you?

One plan might be to "means test" the accounts- suspend investigation for recipients under $50k. Get the big stuff first. Get Bondi on board to start.

I would start with multiple payments being made into the same or similar accounts.
That would be the reason for so many extra account numbers.

This isn't a legitimate source Steve. Its just a random post by some random dude off Twitter/X.

We have no idea if it is accurate.

We currently know that there are at least 60 million erroneous listings in the SS database.

We need more specific info to understand the true scope of the fraud, and with time I believe DOGE will provide it.

The poster mistakes the discrepancy of 60 million additional people being listed in a social security database with there currently being 60 million additional social security recipients being paid.

Not all people listed in the database are recipients currently being paid. I know because I am one. I currently pay into SS and don't get paid by them

Where did Trump or Musk explicitly state that 60 million additional and fake people are currently being paid by the social security administration?

I think a lot of these fake people listed in the SS database are illegal aliens working under faked SS numbers. If so, these fake numbers could indicate additional people paying into the system, not drawing out of it.

There's other factors too. Foreign college students on student visas for example get social security cards and numbers. I know my wife had one back in the 90s. She later got a new card and number after we got married and she became a permanent resident.

Once these foreign college students leave the country (and some actually do leave 😉) they are still probably listed in the database, but are irrelevant, not paying into or taking out of the SS system.

Those are also problems, but different problems.

The fraud here is real. I believe there are millions of people receiving fraudulent SS payments, but it is probably far less than 60 million.

Then again, a lot of legitimate people probably put multiple SS deposits into the same bank account. For example, my parents each received their own SS payment (before my Mom passed), and I bet they deposited both of them into the same checking account. 🤔

Nonetheless, it is probably still a good place to start looking.

You have no proof that the list that Elon was talking about was a list of every number in the database.
Why would he make a statement if it wasn’t about fraud?

You are majoring in minors.
If there is ongoing fraud, the money has to land somewhere. Someone collecting 10, 50 or more checks per month may not have a separate account for each one, and if they do there will probably be a pattern of some kind.

Perhaps the American revelations will help motivate or empower people in other countries to do something similar.
When Elon/DOGE has finished exposing the corruption and fraud in the USA, and cleaning the scum from the swamp, he can do a quick hatchet job in NZ(?)

Scott Compton whom you quoted estimated that the 60 million fake recipients are each being paid $40,000. That would work out to $2,400,000,000,000 ($2.4 trillion) in fraudulent payments each year.

I checked the Social Security Administration's website.

The website states that the grand total of their annual payments in 2024 was $1,482,200,000,000 ($1.4822 trillion) and that there are a total of 71.6 million recipients being paid.

We clearly cannot have 60 million fake recipients collecting $2.4 trillion if the total number of all current recipients is 71.6 million receiving a total of $1.48 trillion.

The fraud is real and it is huge, but it cannot possibly be as large as Scott Compton suggests.

I agree that those figures are off.
