What I can't understand is
Why was a dead guy on the ticket?
I can understand loads of people voting for their party and not thinking about exactly who was representing them, so having no idea he was dead. Most people really don't pay much attention to politics.

What doesn't make sense is that election officials went ahead with a pointless election. Either the democrats should have put up an alternative candidate, or their candidate be withdrawn and the leading live candidate elected by default, or the election postponed.

Surely it's illegal for a dead person to run?

And it looks terrible internationally when the country spreading democracy around the world makes a farce of democracy at home.

I heard in the past few days about a person running for office that hadn’t made any public appearances in, I think, three weeks and they were wondering about them.
I have no clue if this was that person.

Could it be that he had gotten sick or something and they didn’t want to mess up his chances for winning, so they hid the fact? And then he did the unthinkable and died on them?
How embarrassing if no one wanted to admit the truth.
 
I am mainly wondering if Obama and Fetterman will ever do an oncore performance of Puttin on the Ritz
 
Turns out that he died October 9.
Supposedly it was too late to change the ballets and people wanted a new election rather than just settling for his opponent.

Okay, now we have a new definition for “just hold your nose and vote”.

Edit: forgot to mention that it was in the state that seems to have voted for Fetter-not-quite-a-man.

This is the first valid explanation and reason I’ve heard in a LONG time.

I’ll be chewing on this and seriously reconsidering.
 
Legitimacy of regime will go down and resistance will go up. Congress would probably be gridlocked which is ok-ish. Bad things can't come, but neither will good.

Now comes fight because regime will probably try to use courts to put things in its favor.

USA empire is in late roman empire era, not late roman republic. Republic was corrupt to the core, but it could military beat anyone without doubt. It also had unrivaled finance strength and culture to be admired. This was true in 90s for USA, but not now. America's strength is failling.

Consenquence is falling Washington's ability to impose it's will on others, internal as external. People will now seek protection and will fight using lower goverment levels (state and local). And nations in USA are divided, not trusting each other and considering each other enemies. This will even more break federal strength. Can't imlose brutality on 50% of population without civil war.

It would take genius to keep USA regime together. Rome was blessed with several such emperors in late empire period, but current regime is too mid-witted to select for both competency and loyalty in servants. There is no hope for regime.

We are now in dighting phrase in cycle. First is ignoring phrase, then laughting, then fighting you, they you win.

No. The network state is 100% democracy, because every single person opts in by (a) moving there and (b) staying there. You renew citizenship each year. Contrast with the existing system of 51% democracy, which is 49% dictatorship. Almost half doesn't get what they voted for.

So why not call the new election immediately and not go through the farce of this one?
I presume some technicality of the law got in the way and meant they couldn't postpone it, forcing them to spend millions of dollars counting a pointless vote.
Though I suppose if the live candidate had won they'd have avoided the second election.

Can you imagine doing illegal shenanigans for your candidate’s victory and they still lose?
Then you get arrested and prosecuted by the people that you were cheating against?

Maricopa county, full speed ahead.
(They are presently releasing selected batches of votes that are going against Kari, but they are going to have to release the inconvenient numbers within the next 24 hrs. And it will be all over except for the crying)

Edit: I may be unreasonably optimistic about that 24 hrs.
