Hagar and Abraham

We all know that God would have had Ishmael stoned for such an offense just because the law ie Ten Commandments doesn’t mean Abraham didn’t have some kind of moral code
I agree. He would have had a code.
I’m not even saying I believe the theory.

But, I don’t think they postulate that Ishmael violated his body. I think they feel it was sexually inappropriate.

Regardless, I think the bigger picture is that folks will grasp at straws to shoehorn in a biblical reason for Jew/Arab discord.

For your arguments, a video on YouTube idr who by, pointed out something of interest. He was addressing something else but was referencing Genesis 16 and how it's addressed in Roman's 4:19-21 Abraham's faith is noted as having not weakening in regards to having a promise child through Sarah, from Sarah. This makes for a good rebuttal to Abraham's often attributed "lack of faith" in taking Hagar to have the son of the promise.

So my issue is this on the Child of Promise. Genesis 15 talks about God promising Abraham to be the Father of many nations. He never said that line would come through Sarah until after Ishmael was born so therefore, they did not lack faith at all.
That is true as well, I am strictly addressing the often used "he only laid with Hagar because he didnt believe."

So I have been reading this book discussing Abraham, Hagar and other concubines and wives in the Bible. So I came across some things in this book that I had totally forgotten about and wanted to see what you all might think on this subject.
Recently, within the last few months even I heard a Pastor say when reading Genesis 16:3 and said that oh who couldn't see the problems coming with Abram aka Abraham taking Hagar as a wife. The modern day church tries to say that Isaac is the only child of promise and the making of Abraham into a great nation is only through Isaac and I do not see this in the Scripture. Ishmael is blessed in Genesis 17:20 And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation. We also get told there was infighting between Isaac and Ishmael but again we do not see this in the Bible. Genesis 25:9 says that Isaac and Ishmael came together to bury Abraham. And in Genesis 28:9 we see Esau who is Isaac's son marrying a daughter of Ishmael. I believe that this is yet another lie by the Church to say that polygyny and all the fighting is from this one lineage in the bible. Anyways, if anyone has any thoughts I would love to hear them on this subject.
Yeah, I have been saying that exact thing for years in several comment sections on YouTube videos. Speaking of YouTube, I think @PeteR did a video on Ishmael if I am not mistaken. But yeah, there were so many other peoples, especially Philistinians, whom Israel and Judah fought, and like only a passing reference in the Psalms to Ishmael as one of a group of adversaries. Midian gave Israel more problems than Ishmael, and he was the son of Abraham and Keturah, but you don't hear too many preachers railing against marrying after your wife dies.
