Prayer request friend in need of church + prayer

my buddy alex could use some prayers.

really messed up home situation. mom is a hoarder with a host of mental problems, dad is a breathing corpse. alex himself feels like a helpless manbaby because he doesn't know how to do a lot of basic things (cooking, laundry) and thanks to his mom's hoarding his ability to learn is limited.

he's torn between leaving the toxic environment to go to his own place, losing out on some money he gets for taking care of his dad, possibly failing to measure up... and staying.

his mom is in hospital so he's taking the opportunity to clean up and try to hold the line once she gets back.

he wants to get community in a church. i want to find him one that's not going to be shy about practical help and discipleship, not just sit him in a pew.

could use prayers and advice for this

He is lacking confidence which he lacks because he didn't have enough positive feedback.

Therefore, he must do small baby steps which must be perceived as victory in order to build confidence. Same method for competence building.

Start with something small. Learning to start washing machine is enough of victory per day. In month or two he should be able to take care of himself. Cooking will take more time, but I believe basics can be done in two months.
