Bibles

I like to use the New Century Version sometimes to read to my kids and just for a smooth story book feel when I am reading the bible. It was originally a children's bible and while it has all those things wrong with it that the NIV has- It flows so smoothly when reading it and the words are simple and literal- "Then Adam had sexual intercourse with his wife etc." I read as many other types as I can get my hands on and compare- I like E-sword.

I always expect too much of Youngs Literal when I go to use it, I find it sacrifices readability sharply and returns an only slightly more technical rendering than others. Don't get me wrong, I like it, but I guess its just that so far it has never shown me anything that I couldn't get easily out of a grammatically correct translation.

I've heard the old ASB is very good for being literal and readable, its probably one of the best available.
