Beth Moore quits the Baptist Church

If you're looking for a solid woman to listen to
So, is “solid woman” a compliment?

Asking for a friend.

I also attribute whatever she gets wrong to her husband Michael who is something of a mixed bag.
We have their books and found much wisdom in their teaching. My hubby very much thinks Michael should have stuck with relationship ministry and not tried to expand into areas he does not appear to be called to, or gifted in.

  1. My hope is built on nothing less
    Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness;
    I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
    But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
    • Refrain:
      On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
      All other ground is sinking sand,
      All other ground is sinking sand.
  2. When darkness veils His lovely face,
    I rest on His unchanging grace;
    In every high and stormy gale,
    My anchor holds within the veil.
  3. His oath, His covenant, His blood
    Support me in the whelming flood;
    When all around my soul gives way,
    He then is all my hope and stay.
  4. When He shall come with trumpet sound,
    Oh, may I then in Him be found;
    Dressed in His righteousness alone,
    Faultless to stand before the throne.

I like that hymn as well. But I didn’t think that was the context of this discussion. If that's what you were referring to then yes Yeshua is our rock. And hers hopefully

As a a man, every time I am at a church and a lady is preaching something seems off. I agree ladies preach with emotions and feelings. Where your suppose to preach with the scripture. Putting yourself in a position to let God's word speak. I hope I am making sense

I agree and it’s not exclusive to women. Haven’t heard a woman preach in quite some time and yet most of what I heard from the pulpit, albeit it’s been 4 years since I’ve been to “church”, was mostly emotional and feeling based coming from “men” of God. But if I had to bet, I don’t think it’s changed. Probably just gotten worse.

Ladies preaching are being disobedient to scripture.

There is no shortage of preaching men who are also disobedient to Scripture. Heresy and apostasy are equal opportunity deceivers.
Indeed. And, the men are harder to spot because one often needs to have a fairly good understanding of Scripture in order to spot their deception.

My warning bells generally go off when someone either calls themselves a prophet or someone else does.

Just me, but I don't expect a genuinely anointed prophet to sound like a Southern televangelist who likes expensive suits, private jets, and who is fond of yelling to make a point. I don't know what a real prophet will look like to me but something tells me I will know him if I see him.

Or does Facebook videos of their 'dreams' where they are very clearly making it up as they go along. Or makes you pay to hear their visions/dreams. And there's a heap of other things I could add here, but we'll be here for days. They're far easier to spot than you realise if you just look.

Wrong. The modern prophets are just the prophets of old. I mean Isaiah lived in a mansion... no wait. Um Elijah, I think he had a phat crib on the Mediterranean sea, wait no, that was.... crap. You know what, it seems like the real prophets lived in caves and wore animal skins, many were persecuted, imprisoned, and killed. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a real one.

This past year has really shown that the emperor has no clothes. None of the modern prophets foresaw covid, or the riots, or Trump losing. They missed all of the most impactful things to hit the globe in our life times. And if they didn’t foresee any of that, then what good are they really?

I have had prophecies come true in my own life.

The modern prophets are just the prophets of old.

Since we have yet to get to the end of the prophecies from Ezekiel, Jeremiah, Daniel, John, etc. Those ARE current prophets. These others are distractors and pretenders.

I have not, so far, found anyone that calls themselves a prophet or prophetess to actually be legit. None of them. And I'm sure that's going to offend someone here because someone is following someone that they think is awesome and real, but it's the truth.

As a side note, and we're getting pretty off topic here (but I don't really know anything about Beth Moore so can't contribute there), why are all women who call themselves prophetesses black?! God distributes His gifts amongst all races and colours. I just don't understand it. It seems like it's more a cultural thing than anything else.
