Like love my neighbor AND my enemy?

Would those wrong people be sinners? Or was Jesus’ mission to seek and save the righteous?

Like he is a thief and was killed invading a house, so there is no guilty for his blood upon the home owner. So the church has no business harassing this guy for defending himself, his family and his house. He was considered innocent by the law of men, both civil and criminal, and by the law of God according to Exodus 22:2. This pastor shouldn't be asking him to publicly ask for forgiveness, the one who should ask for forgiveness is dead already. And closure? The family is requiring closure? The closest to closure they should have is closing the casket.

If the thief was alive, he would have the need to ask for forgiveness and Jesus would forgive him. Because he committed the sin of theft.

Now about the fact that you should love your neighbour, is it loving to harass an innocent man? Does the law of God or the law of men requires a man to be killed or to be robbed by a thief? Is it loving to try to profit on the sin of your deceased thief relative using a civil law against an innocent man?

@Gibitto, I wasn’t addressing the thief entering the home. It’s an unfortunate episode, but no apologies are owed to his family.

I was addressing your statements about Jesus, love and who benefits from that love.

In this case I beg your pardon for the harshness of my response.

But clarifying what I have said before. Love/Agape is not about sentimentalism, its about a lawful action concerning the well being of a neighbour. Doing to him as you would like to be done to yourself. People misinterpret love as being a vague feeling. With this you see Christians supporting homossexual marriage inside the church. Something clearly against the Law of God, but that people think is based on "love". We could find other examples, even more subtle than this one, but I think the dissociation between this so called love and what the Bible says, specially the Torah, concerning Gods moral code, creates a wrong notion of what Love is.

For example, visiting a person imprisoned is an act of love, but if they are really guilty, you should preach on repentance for them. But their actions have put them there and the punishment is just. Not punishing the guilty would be unjust and unlawful. But nowadays you see lots of people dismantling the law with a vague feeling of love and a subverted feeling of pity for those who have commited crimes. This is what I refer to when I say that people think that Jesus was a hippie.

Idk if in Brazil things have gone worse, I believe it did, but you have a bunch of people in here relaxing more and more the laws for criminals as if they were unjust and cowardly on the person who have killed, stolen, robbed, and etc. And they do so based on this distorted sense of empathy.

In the case of polygyny, a man "cheating" on his wife will be a heinous crime for a regular church. A wife's adultery is caused by something that the man did or ought to have done. See the imbalance? One is not even adultery, even if you consider it something else. The other is adultery. But one will have a harsh treatment, the obviously and undebatedly sinful one will be showered with affection and comprehesion on the sinner. While blaming the victim.

If a woman breaks the house, beats the man, uses the law as a weapon against the man, steals everything he has with help of the state, she is legitimized on doing so because of what he have done. Even if it means that in doing so, she committed a long list of sins. But if the man wants a divorce and custody of the children, he is wrong and he is being too harsh on the poor adultress.

The sinner deserves forgiveness? Thank God, literally, it does, otherwise I would have been in trouble myself. But the victim is to be recognized as the... Victim? Agape goes towards correcting and forgiving the sinner. But not in a way that puts them on the spotlight as a victim.

If needed be, I can try to explain it even further on in another way.

But speaking of homosexual unions approved by the church.

What if one’s family members has made such a union? In your opinion, what is the approach that the family should take? How do you show displeasure with their lifestyle choices, and agape/neighbor love?

Sin is sin, any violation of God's command is sin. Deal with sin.... . Whether it's idolatry, lying, sexual immorality, witchcraft, or something else, it's all sin. Don't get caught up into categorising sin as though some sin is less or more serious than other sin. It is written, For the wages of sin is death. Eating a bit of fruit in the Garden brought devastating consequences. If someone is involved in sin, deal with it because it is sin. Shalom.

Err.. yes and no... Those that are sinning willfully, publicly and flagrantly in defiance to God much be dealt with in a manner that does not allow others to believe that it is condoned. This kind of sinning deserves a open and public response. Those that are dealing with sin that they are not in open defiance to God over are dealt with progressively.... Quietly, privately as Nathan did with David. And then more openly as the sinner remains unrepentant....

Shalom...

I totally agree... it's sin so deal with it. How you might deal with it will vary according to the situation, but it's still sin. Cheers

I took some of my children to watch the new Superman movie today. It was a really good movie. Very well done. We all loved it. One of the best superhero movies we've ever seen. I've heard from a number of places that it's woke, and that it is all about the immigration issue in America. It really isn't any of that. It's superman. He's an alien from another planet with super powers. People are rightly concerned about that. It's not remotely woke and is a great movie.

We also watched the live action How To train Your Dragon recently. I heard that was really leaning into Astrid's character and pushing her backstory and had gone woke too. Nothing could be further from the truth. There is 1 sentence where she talks about where she's come from, and it's relevant to the story and Hiccup's character arc. Is she a warrior? Yes. She always was. Girls can fight (dragons or otherwise), and it not be woke.

I am so confused by what I've been seeing online. It's like people have become so sensitised to 'woke' that they're seeing it everywhere it's not. And in doing so, we're dulling it down.

Endgame is another example. There is 1 scene, it is all of a minute, where all the women get together to help another woman so they can get the gauntlet to the place it needs to go. This is pushed as 'woke' and 'feminism'. Why can't women get together to help other women? If it was all men getting together to help other men, it wouldn't be mentioned. The entire movie is several hours long and people freak out over 1 minute.

It makes conservatives look ridiculous, honestly.

There are real issues to fight. There are real terrible movies to attack. Why are people attacking things that really aren't issues? Cry wolf enough times and no one will listen anymore.

That's my random comments for the day.

Sometimes controversy is created on purpose;

Although maybe if the director says that it is about politics and morality, it actually is? Just not in a way that societies who are not being invaded by other cultures would recognize.

Haven't seen the movie [Superman] - wasn't planning to. But at least the comments make me think it might be worthwhile. Even if the director might not realize that sometimes a good movie is about encouraging a dialogue, even...
