Biblical Families is not a dating website. It is a forum to discuss issues relating to marriage and the Bible, and to offer guidance and support, not to find a wife. Click here for more information.
Encinal TX, where I am stranded until 1 AM at the "Love's" truck stop. I walked into town, found a Laundromat/Grocery/Meat store with an attached restaurant and had a "Brisket Taco" in peaceful solitude.
I will spend most of the rest of the day in Dallas (unless VersaCold surprises me and loads me very early). Then it's on to New Albany MS, and then London KY (the home of Kentucky Fried Chicken's Col. Sanders).
I hope you have the autority to do so. Most evangelicals think they can just start up a church without autority by simply not like the church they are at. I am not jumping to conclusions just staying you need authority. In my humble opinion it is only granted in a few ways. One is to be a church plant from an existing church or denomination or God forbid excommunication
.
I would like someday for someone to have the intestinal fortitude to reform their church in regards to marriage and actually stick it out to the end and be excommunicated for it. Most have just stated what they believe and run to a home church. That is not having authority. Actually it would be nice if reformation actually took place but you know the chances of that.
Noone is bold enough to face this because they know the price will be too high for them. Can you imagine the reaction from the church and the community? You know how fast the word will spread.
I thought he was foolhardy but my husband stayed the course at his church and was "disfellowshipped" not excommunicated because they were not full official members. he made family sit through services where people would barely talk to them in anticipation of it all. There are churches that they are not even aware of and sister churches of their's where their names were spoken aloud and the members were admonioshed to have no contact with them due to their "sin of polygamy" all the while these same people can use nothing but inconsistent arguments, of course. I thought my hubby was on a crazy vendetta but now that you mention it I am proud he stuck out the humiliation and first wife's emotional hardship at the ENTIRE TOWN (and some others in neighboring counties, plus churches in her home state!) shunning her and kids almost completely and insulting her husband as some kind of pervert! They know how it will be and how quick it can get around!! My husband is not Hugh by the way thought you might assume that by this post!
