What kind of music do you like?

So I referenced Neal Morse's "The Great Adventure" over on another thread; here's the video:

For those who aren't familiar with Neal (I'm guessing most...), he's a believer who has been producing prog rock and worship music for decades. The Great Adventure (his latest release, title track above) is a two-disc concept album that tells a story somewhere in the hero's journey, Pilgrims Progress zone, about a boy with father issues going out into the world to make his way and eventually finding "A Love That Never Dies".

Looking for the video for TGA, I was surprised to find a YouTube post of his concert in Dallas 2/28/19, a concert I took the fam to see! So if you like prog rock (or are prog-curious), and can EQ the sound to overcome the deficiencies of a video camera mic at the sound booth, come along for a two-hour adventure....

Those who know us should be able to spot Mark's blond head, Ginny's head bob, or Paul's long hair and beanie about five or six rows back.

The inimitable Mike Portnoy (Neal Morse Band, Dream Theater, Flying Colors, Transatlantic, others) is one of my favorite drummers. Just sayin.

The end of the concert, resolution of the story, and encore set morphed into a straight-up worship service, a celebration of God's love. Don't know if that's recorded here (I'm rolling it now in the background), but it was pretty cool.

"Acres of Diamonds"
This song has been on my heart for more than a week. It's an old song--a favorite of the old timers in the NC mountains. I wasn't sure if I'd even be able to find someone who had recorded it. There are more verses than the one in these 2 recordings. Very powerful message. I'm glad I could find these and share.

Love these guys...or at least the videos! We use to watch this one with the kids when they were young. They loved it! I always remember the treadmill video. It must have been so fun to do.

My 17 yo nephew just played this for me the other day. I love that this is his heart now. God is so good and merciful!

This is a good version of Ava Maria by Jackie Evancho:

One thing I like about early jazz was that it was pure musicianship; no computer bells and whistles to hide talent like now. They don't make music like this no more:

What is interesting is that a lot of talented artists are never played on the radio or become famous and are stuck in obscurity. This artist is amazing:

This is another one as well:
