The Gospel Plan of Salvation

Out of all the forums I have come across, I think this is the best one to share some of what I am learning and believing through Charles Finney's Bible School.

I would like to begin a series of teachings to help us to understand the gospel, and also to pray online for salvation, and also to promote revival. Once we get this going, we can pray for individual needs and trust God for the answer.

The first sermon I would like to discuss is HOLINESS BY FAITH.

The best form to discuss this would be via the College coursebook, where questions are asked on each full sermon. However, since there is no topic in the coursebook ready yet, I will improvise a bit.

1. The gospel method of justification does not set aside or repeal the law. Discuss.
2. It rather establishes the law, by producing true obedience to it, and as the only means that does this. Why?

I have the 1878 edition of his Systematic Theology, though I am unfamiliar with his specific sermons. I was talking to a freind that was just going through NT Wrights new book on justification and I was impressed with how well it all meshed.

Of course the short answer is that justification is a function of law rather than the annulment of it. Without any moral law there would be no grounds for justification.
