Kristin and I just got back from watching a new movie in our local Cinemark theater, titled Gangubai Kathiawadi; it was filmed in Hindi language with English subtitles and is a major film release from India. For those who can appreciate Redeeming Love, I highly recommend it. Redeeming Love focuses on the stalwartness of the heroine's husband, whereas Gangubai Kathiawadi, which is based on fact instead of fiction, focuses on the inner strength of the protagonist's response to being sold into prostitution by a man she was in love with (note: if one studies the nature of current-day child-sex-trafficking, one is already familiar with the fact that charming very young women to fall in love with their recruiters is a very common strategy for tricking them into leaving home). The acting is superb, and it's a spectacular big-screen affair (typical of Bollywood releases), so I'd love to know what others who can find it will think of it, including how, while it doesn't at all mention polygamy, it might dovetail with issues related to plural marriage.
