T-shirts

Paul not the apostle

We are thinking about making up some Tshirts and need some input. Please let me know if you have any good ideas. Here are some so far, mostly for men. Some ideas for women's shirts would be nice.

thanks.

As a polygamist….
If I am under the Law, I am covered.
If I am free from the Law, I am covered.
Is there some other Law out there that matters?

You don’t have to observe the Sabbath, but I do…
You don’t have to observe the feasts, but I do…
You don’t have to husband two wives, but I do…
You don't have to, but if you do, I don't mind.

Stop abusing your wife…
Get a second one to help her out.

Do not deal treacherously with the wife of your youth..
Get another helpmeet.

It’s not Monogamy or Polygamy…
It’s Marriage.
Given, Commanded, Blessed.

GOD…
Created it in marriage,
Allowed it for His chosen people,
Regulated it in His Law,
Commanded it as a protection,
Killed those that were disobedient,
Blessed those that lived it,
Describes Himself with it,
Never speaks against it…
Biblical Polygamy.
Who is right, God or the traditions of men?

It is the epitome of selfishness
to not share your Godly husband
when there are so many
widows, orphans, and singles
that could use one as well.

Didn't your mommies teach you to share?

How about...

"It isn't my day to watch him!"

SweetLissa

(This one came from T at the Memorial Day retreat when she told me in no uncertain terms that is was my job to watch him for the day.)

One more piece of advice, if you care to hear it...

Keep them short. Make it so someone can read it all in one glance. Otherwise you won't get the message across.

SweetLissa

and PLEASE, not across her chest :o

Some might as well be completely un-PC, too:

Ever notice how the Bible repeatedly condemns gay sex,
but never a man who takes care of more than one wife?
What does that tell you?

Or something like:

Why is it that someone who uses and loses lots of women
gets a TV show,
but someone who treats more than wife one the way God says to
gets persecuted?

Or this:

God says--
Our King has many subjects...
Our Master has more than one servant
and husbands who honor Him
may have more than one wife.

Finally, maybe a Bible verse or two:
(I tend to agree with Lissa - pithy is generally good; may a series of shirts
with a bunch of single verses might work. "Buy the whole set".)

"If he takes another wife..."
(Exodus 21:10)

"If a man has two wives..."
(Deuteronomy 21:15)

Any questions?

"Ever wonder how King David could have several wives and still be
a 'man after God's own heart'?"

or;

Does it take more than one wife to be a man after God's own heart????????

good one, mark

i did not anticipate an answer to that question :geek:

All accompanied by an unmistakable pm symbol of 1 male and 2 female symbols intertwined ...

"Plural Marriage:
Accept the responsibility
Reap the Benefits"

or a bigger variation that says:
"Servanthood Polygyny
Accept the Responsibility ...
Reap the Benefits"

"Plural Marriage
Shock Your Pastor's Wife"

Actually, I think I did shock my pastor's wife in a recent location. Since she apparently ruled the roost, or perhaps had difficulties with accurate reporting, her husband tried to come down hard on me and lost his church for his efforts, which meant that they had to move, so she probably lost her job as well, but that's another story ...

"Patriarchal Orthodox Polygamist (POP)
What is this 'Monogamy Only' heresy, anyway?"

"My son and his wives think Monogamy is weird!"

(Using musical symbols where the italics are on this one ...
"Plural Marriage --
Give it a rest already!
It is natural and the objections are flat"

(Surrounded by notes. This can be sung to a sunday school kindergarten tune ...)
"I have a hubby and I am glad.
You have no hubby and that's too bad!
I'll share my hubby for I love you;
And now you'll have a nice hubby too!"

"A chord of three strands is not easily broken. -- God (Eccl 4:12b)

"Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD. - Prov18:22
I'm doubly blessed! :) "

Anyone who would like to see these made up in .jpeg form, ready to print onto inkjet transfers, write me and ask at cecil@biblicalfamilies.org.

Actually, I'm kinda hoping that you guys DO decide to make some up, Paul & DeeAnn. I'll definitely buy!

Oh, oh ... how about hubby and wives all wearing T-shirts alike that have a big entertwined PM symbol, and simply say, "Any questions? :D " I bet that would start lots of conversations. Not to mention being an effective way of breaking the news to family!

I had thought that having retreat tshirts would be fun. However a shirt like that would not be an ice breaker for explaining to my folks. Just the opposite. It would create more ice than I know what to do with.

Sweetlissa

That's where you need a nice selection, Lissa. ;)

Save the ones with the symbols for "insider events" like retreats, and wear the ambiguous ones which ask leading questions in those other situations...
(After all, there are MANY people who are starting to actually READ what the Bible really says about marriage. Which gives me another set of possible concept ideas:

How about --

Have you ever REALLY read what the Bible says about polygyny?

or

If God didn't allow polygyny, why did He Write rules for it?

and

If polygyny were a sin, why would God do it? * )

Blessings,
Mark

* I guess there could be a footnote at the bottom,
"Jer. 23, Ezek. 3" , etc.

Oh, how could I have forgotten this one:

(one of the first arguments on the topic I ever heard)

You can't find ANYPLACE in the Bible where God prohibits polygyny...

but I can show you where it can be REQUIRED!

Let their sour out. Pour sweet all over them. Water the ice with tears. Sit back on the porch and enjoy. Under some circumstances, discreet addition of gin may be required.

Interpretation: Make and enjoy lemonade!
(Probably unrealistically idealistic, I know. But it SOUNDS real profound ...) ;)

"Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing." Prov 18:22
Polygamy: More of a good thing.

I like the first one so much that I just had to have another!

Bet'cha can't marry just one.

If the plural of mouse is mice,
Is the plural of spouse, ... spice?

My best friend is ...
My husband's other wife!

He's our hubby.
She's my best friend.

Cecil,

I loved this one:

"A chord of three strands is not easily broken. -- God (Eccl 4:12b)

But maybe with the Biblical families.org logo on the back
With the logo....a blue man holding the hands of two pink wifes and two kids.

Need I say more?
