single men

I wasn't sure which forum to put this under...but, just a quick observation...

I see a myriad of people here, obviously..many married, whether it be monogamous or polygamous, and a lot of single women, but I don't see many single men. Not necessarily trying to or not trying to *find* one, it was simply an observation. Are there more out there than I realize?

Dunno, Andria. But the fun thing about this forum is that they ALL be eligible. :D

Though some are looking and some are more waiting and praying ... which gives a single girl an opportunity to do the Ruth thing -- "Y'all mind if'n I crawl on up herabouts and snuggle under the foot of yer blanket?" ;)

Now all ya gotta do is find an address and make a midnight blankey call!

LOL, Doc, I guess I truthfully don't know your marital status..? lol, maybe that's the issue, I just don't know anyone here!

sadanyagci, very good point!

Cecil, you're funny :) Amusing thing... had a discussion on marriage the other day and someone made a rather derogatory comment about the Ruth thing, and about how we just don't do awful things like that anymore

Sad they don't see the beauty in it, huh? Rightly understood, there's lots more to this story than we hear preached. Some stuff in the original language and context make it seriously powerful and wonderful rather than a half sad seduction.

If I remember, the conversation was a very interesting one about whether or not fathers "own" their daughters. Maybe I should pose that question on the board :)

Someone actually thought that what Ruth did was awful??? I think it is the most beautiful picture of how an uncovered (headship-wise) woman can go with confidence (and purity) to a man and ask for his covering. I also think it's a comforting example of how the Lord put in place a system that gave uncovered women some sort of recourse, besides begging or harlotry.

The 21st century feminist ideology of the church can be very discouraging.
