It is a little recognized fact that the Bible contains a number of passages that can only be described as instructions for repeatable and verifiable scientific experiments -- long predating the western concept of scientific experimentation.
One of these has to do with achieving peace, when one's innards are in an uproar. It is found in Philippians 4, and seems apropos to another thread in which a first wife is sharing her internal conflicts and fears as her lifelong paradigms shift from western to Biblical thought and expectations on marriage.
Ok. Here goes. Phil 4:4-7
** Rejoice in the Lord always. Again, I will say, Rejoice!
** Let your gentleness be known to all men.
Now, here it comes ... "The Lord IS at hand ... (so) ...
** Be anxious for nothing, but
** in everything
.. ** by prayer
.. ** and supplication,
.. ** with thanksgiving,
** let your requests be made known to God.
Now, for the expected result of performing this replicatable experiment. Having performed the foregoing steps, one may have full confidence in and, in fact, lay claim to the following results. I, personally, have done so many times.
"And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, WILL (come forth from God Himself and) guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." (additions mine)
I hereby testify that each and every time I have invoked and followed this passage, giving thanks for everything I could think of for a while, then reminding God that I was intentionally fulfilling the conditions and now looked for and expected the promised blessing of His Spirit of peace to descend upon me and guard or shield me from fear, doubt, confusion, inner turmoil and terrors, IT HAS WORKED WITHIN MOMENTS. God is absolutely faithful.
Try it. You'll like it.
