Hi everyone! I didn't know whether to post this in the regular prayer area or in this health section. It is not a serious issue, however, it is an fascinating opportunity that might have an interesting impact.
So a little back story: My dad introduced me to Dr. Andrew Saul and orthomolecular studies, and vitamin therapy. I have gobbled up all the research articles he bought from Amazon. (It's funny cause he bought some books from Dr. Saul and I have been the one to "claim" them. ) So with this newfound knowledge, my mom, dad, and I have started doing this therapy with stellar results!
Anyway, I've been really praying to be able to have a positive and powerful impact on healthcare for the better of the patients. Even though I won't be graduating with my NP until 2021, that doesn't stop me from trying to think up ideas to help people. One of the things I remember reading is that vitamin C can increase wound healing and be used for a multitude of things (infection treatment, infection prevention, pressure ulcer prevention, etc).
(Long story, short) Today, when I was working at the hospital, I asked one of the wound specialist nurses how important Vitamin C was for wound healing (I knew the answer, however, I wanted to hear it from them). Without hesitation, she said, "It's very important." To that, my response was, "Then why are we not putting all our surgery patients on a vitamin C protocol? What can I do to convince the surgeons to use vitamin C?" I decided to bring this case to my nurse manager. She replied, "That would be an excellent topic for you to do as a clinical ladder project!" I had totally forgotten about that opportunity.
Basically, the clinical ladder is for registered nurses who think there might be a better/more efficient way of doing something and go through rigorous studying and searching out resources while creating a presentation. Then this presentation is submitted for approval. If approved, it may be moved forward to be adopted as hospital policy. In a way, it's a very professional way to take an idea up the chain-of-command and have a higher likelihood of being enacted rather than just bringing it up to surgeons.
What I need prayer for is 1) wisdom to search out the information on vitamin C and the resources/information to present this material 2) for YHVH to go before me and prepare the path and soften the hearts of the hospital and surgical team so they will be receptive to this and 3) that this might be a platform to create a positive and lasting change in the community of medicine.
I'd appreciate all the prayers, ideas, and suggestions that anyone might offer!
Blessings!
