Plural Marriage and supreme court?

Curious about how the federal govt could override the state laws in favor of PM....
In Obergefell, the Supremes came up with a constitutional "right to marry", which will eventually sort itself out in the context of plural marriage.

The discussion around gay marriage is refining our culture's view of plural marriage. Check out this post (and the thread it's in) for more info.

Will we see PM being "accepted" anytime soon, like gay marriage?
Hard to say, but it will depend mostly on the willingness of members of groups such as this one to step up and make their voices heard.

Hard to say what will happen. Trump is remaking the court and so all bets are off. But if they don't want to overturn the gay marriage precedent, they'll likely rule in favor of plural marriage. But however they rule, it is likely to stick for a generation as Trump will end up appointing a large number of young, originalist judges.

As polygamy rides the coattails of gay marriage into acceptance, which can easily be seen as a chess move by God to bring righteous order to the family structure, there is a fear that it could go the wrong way.

Here is an article by the former U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay that basically describes polygamy being lumped into pedophilia and bestiality. If that ends up happening it would really be hard for the world to see plural marriage as a good thing, especially if what's happening in the world and even the church today keeps getting worse.

The main thing that will make the difference is . . . wait for it . . . us! We can either sit around as spectators in our echo chamber trying to predict where things might be headed, or we can get out there in the world and try to make a difference in the outcome. What are you doing in your community to change hearts and minds?

One key, as @andrew says above, is us being intentional about sharing truth. Each of us have skillsets and each of us have circles of influence. Are we willing to pray, trust and act...

The American Revolution conversation was fommented and driven by a reported 5% of the populace. Guessing similar numbers drove the gay agenda to force the issue into the open.

FWIW, the main thing that holds people back from being "out" is the fear of the transition, which can be very painful. But if you can make it through the transition, you'll get used to your new life.

Cf. jumping into a cold pool v. stepping in a few body parts at a time, ripping a band aid off v. peeling it slowly. Just go ahead and get it over with so you can get used to the new life. The sooner we get started and the harder we work, the sooner we're finished.

"Polygynist" isn't what I believe, it is who I am.

Having only one wife, technically I am a merely a polygyny supporter. But that is not quite right either. Really I am a Biblical marriage supporter, which I think the comes out more looking like a patriarchal marriage supporter, which would include polygyny.

Anyway, if God is moving in this direction, and I think he is, then count me in God.

Oh, yeah, just going for the easy, common illustrations. Maybe more like having a bone reset or a dislocated shoulder re-positioned, and even that's not really capturing it.

That sparks a thought, though: Most of this happens in the mind. Like they say, "pain is inevitable; suffering is optional". The moment you make the decision to resolutely follow the Lord's leading No Matter What, the band-aid comes off (or pick your metaphor), and everything after that is just getting used to the consequences. As long as you're in "we'll try this and see if it works" mode, you're just picking at the band-aid.

Amen to that!
