Natural Childbirth

Hello all, I'm new to this board. Anyway, just wanted to mention some ladies are using hypnosis with natural childbirth. No side affects from drugs and the training can be used to deal with other pain as well. Just my fifth of a dime.... ;0)

I don't know that I'd trust hypnosis, you are opening up your mind to direct suggestions from somebody else, and who knows what they might put in. You'd want to be very careful there. There are plenty of other ways for women to help deal with the pain of natural childbirth (movement, water births, acupressure etc) that don't involve psychological or spiritual risks like that. Tread carefully.

My Advice would be go with what you are comfortable with but make sure everything is "normal" first, don't take the risk of being to far from help if it is required. I have given birth three times in hospital but I have required some form of Induction every time. If it is necessary I would recommend the gel on cardboard with string attached (so it can be removed once your labor starts) it was the least invasive of induction methods. the only one that went completely natural (after the induction) was the second one although i did not require drugs or intervention with the third but there were way more monitors and she required hospital care immediately upon birth. I was high risk for my first one so could not be anywhere but the hospital, but I did not have any invasive procedures i did not ok first. I did have to voice my opinion against an episiotomy the first time but they went with my preference.
