We are an Australian-based television company producing a documentary for National Geographic TV channel.
The programme explores different cultural practises from around the world and provides a historical, cultural and academic insight into these different beliefs. We also feature specialist academics from leading universities, predominantly from the US but also from other countries, who explain the history and other facet surrounding the story.
We are hoping to feature a story about a polygamous family as part of an episode about marriage and adultery. We think polygamy is a very interesting area but is often only talked about in the context of Mormon or Islamic faiths.
It would be very educational for the audience to gain a deeper understanding of this form of marriage; to see and hear how and why Christian families have chosen this path, how they live their lives, what the religious argument and history is and also the obstacles they come up against.
This would require a family or some family members who would be happy to openly discuss their story on camera (obviously where children are concerned they would not have to be involved).
We are also very used to dealing with subjects of a sensitive nature and it goes without saying that we would treat the family we feature will due respect and understanding.
