The US Marines have a saying (so I'm told):

Bravery is no match for bravery plus discipline.

While pondering this troubling truth (not sure I'm either brave OR disciplined *sigh*), a couple of logical corollaries popped into view. Here they are for your contemplation and possible discussion, correction and, if we're very lucky, improvement ...

Brilliance is no match for brilliance plus discipline.

... and ...

(A sentimental) "love" is no match for (active) love plus (self)discipline.

(Had to make sure no-one misunderstood this as suddenly championing the astounding abominable practice of disciplining wives via switches and standing in corners, fer goodness' sake! *shudder*)
