Leaky or Overflowing Vessels

Ever ask God to "Flow through me"?

Had an interesting "conversation with God" early this Sabbath morning. I want to relate the gist of it, and develop it a bit, so will start then come back to this post several times. Look for thjis original post to change.

Core thought: He wants to flow through us, but as overflowing, not leaky, vessels.

Think about it.

For instance, if He blesses me financially, and I pay all bills, provide for my family, and always am generous on every occasion, I'm acting as a whole vessel, overflowing.

If, on the other hand, I squander said provision on junk food, movies, fancy clothes, and the most trendy electronics, while leaving a trail of unpaid bills and sporadic giving, at best, I'm functioning as a leaky vessel. He's still flowing through me alright, but it isn't working out the way He intends.

Another area could well be in Health. We sing, "Let Your healing power flow through me." Uh-huh. What then? If He heals me, and I continue in the health destroying habits that brought on illness in the first place, so that I either promptly become sick once again, or have to ask for healing for myself continually, I'm a leaky vessel.

If, on the other hand, I receive my healing joyfully, turn from the self destructive habits, and begin ministering healing to those about me, I'm overflowing, as He desires.

I'm sure there are other applications.

Does this make sense? I now invite comment, please ... (Granted, y'all'll prolly just write, "Well, DUH, Cec!")

Health is a touchy subject in today's society. My thoughts are: if were "bought at a price", therefore no longer slaves, then why are most Christians still slaves to the world? What happened to taking care of our "temple"?

Thanks for the insights Cecil
