How would you classify men like me?

We believe in God's truth, including poly, yet are not practising it and, if left to our own devices, might not get to practice it.
But we fully support poly, the only difference is we only have one wife, for now.

1. Not a polygamist/polyginist.
2. Non-practicing polyginist.
3. Wannabe polyginist.

Am not trying to label people or force people into groups. Simply curious on how are we viewed by real polys (practising).

Well #2 if you want me to pick an answer.

But I think a better description would simply be that you believe in Biblical marriage, and are currently married to one woman.
 
I would classify you as one who believes more of the truth than does the average Believer.
 
I would agree with ylop on his extended definition, but of your list, i would pick #2.

It really is Biblical Marriage with plurality being a natural, optional, extension of that core belief.

Perhaps because I now actively seek the truth than the average believer? One thing for sure, knowing more of the truth didn't made me wiser than most, only more aware of our responsibilities and duties as God's children, which is kind of overwhelming.

Amen! That's why I can't get around some acknowledging polygyny as a valid form of marriage yet says that they won't follow it. Gonna walk the talk. :D

I can understand your sentiment, but remember the key part to that is "optional". Just because you can have >1 doesn't mean it is for everyone.

Case in point: I have a friend at work who agrees that I should have a "legal" right to have more than one (we're both small-government), but thinks anyone who would actually want more than one is crazy. :) He likes the freedom to choose, and for him, the choice is a resounding, no thank you.
 
Sir, IMHO, if we believe in God's whole truth then we know that all those rules boils down to obedience, absolute submission to His will.

If I say this moment that poly is okay but, definitely, I will only have one wife... how can I be sure that THAT is His plan for me? Isn't that putting my will above His? Will I deny the leading of the Holy Ghost?

Will it be much better, and more truthful, if I keep my options open... according to His will?

I've read a number of pro-poly articles whose authors' unequivocally states that they will only have one wife. I don't want to delve into their reasons but their actions or lack thereof is not helping the pro-polys, IMO. Talking the talk but not walking it does not inspire confidence.
 
I actually agree with you overall. To agree to PM and then state emphatically that one WILL NOT participate is removing the possibility that God can do something great in their life. As i said to someone once about this, "Who am I to tell God what I will and will not do?" Does Jonah ring a bell to anyone? He said "No"... and then changed his mind. :)
 
Agree, but the flip-side is that it is also entirely reasonable to say "... but I believe that God only intends for me to have one wife and I have no desire for more". That statement doesn't limit God.
