How to effectively study Bible with Skype or IM?

I have done this...what I did was start in Luke and go through a small section trying to keep to one topic or as few as possible...then discuss those texts and how they relate to us today. Once finished with Luke I suggest moving on to Acts and continuing the process. I always suggested that they read ahead. I tried to keep the discussion to 20 or 30 minutes and then discuss any questions as long as the other individual was showing interest. Keeping it short makes it easy for them to digest, and keeps them wanting more the next time...that is if they are genuinely interested.
