• Biblical Families is not a dating website. It is a forum to discuss issues relating to marriage and the Bible, and to offer guidance and support, not to find a wife. Click here for more information.

Good afternoon, everyone! My name is Amy, and I have been lurking in the background for a little while reading your wonderful posts, and learning all I could before introducing myself and adding my own thoughts. I am 28, and live outside of Dallas in Texas. I am a lay midwife with my own practice (birth is my passion, and helping women and families is my favorite pastime), and I am also a freelance writer and content editor for a local newspaper (from home). I am a single mom to a wonderful little boy, and cherish every second I get with him!

Plural marriage has been something I have considered and pondered for many years, and had a rough time reconciling that belief with my faith. I attended a local bible college in Arlington, where I found no like-minded people, and was condemned the few times I spoke about my thoughts on the topic (I was young and not well-spoken in the matter, so that made any conversation difficult). I am overjoyed to find this community of believers who share this common belief, and I am excited to continue to glean information and life lessons from each of you. I hope to get to know some of you both online and in real life, and be an active part of this community in whatever way most honors our Lord. Blessings to each of you and your beautiful families!

Hello and welcome to Biblical Families!
The ladies chat is on this evening, 7.30pm Eastern time and you're most welcome to join us, the chat is at the top of the page.
Also, the ladies retreat is in Houston this year, so if you want to join us for that it won't be too far for you to travel. It's March 8 - 10th I think.

Thank you!! I plan to be on the chat this evening. I’d love for information on the retreat. That would be wonderful!

Welcome

Welcome!
So glad you found this forum/ministry. :-)

It is easy to feel isolated, and that no one shares your views on plural marriage.
This place is an oasis for like minded believers.
Hope to hear more from you in the forums.

Welcome! I'm glad you've found lurking useful (we all do for a while before saying hello...). I'd highly recommend getting to know the ladies here, you'll find them a breath of fresh air after your bible college experience. Anybody who's willing to accept plural marriage even though the world condemns it is ideal to discuss any other matter with also. Enjoy the chat!

I mean that, as site administrator, I have sufficient information on your and her accounts to know with 100% certainty that you are one and the same person (I am intentionally not elaborating precisely what information I am using, for obvious reasons).

For other posters, @elizabethjames406 has been involved in this forum for many years, on and off, and has spoken to many families in private online. She is now assuming a new identity and claiming to have never posted here before. I do not know what the reason for this is, but think that it is unusual enough behaviour for others to be aware of.

People need to be careful with single women on here. They know what they are doing and not all have good intentions. Many have manipulative personality disorders. Go slow and don't be desperate! This is a place to learn, not date. If you do decide to pursue someone, don't message them until you have watched them interact for a while.
