My name is Isidora or "Dora" for short. I stumbled upon this website through Google search after being confused by pro-polygamist posts on Reddit. It's not that I'm against it, just that I've never really thought of polygamy in that light; let alone Christian polygamy. So I felt it was time to create my account and dip my toes into the water.

As an agnostic I hope I feel welcomed. Growing up my family was never religious and, being of Italian heritage, had Catholic relatives who invited me to attended services at their church but I didn't really feel a connection to the faith.

I'll admit both religion and polygamy are alien to me. However, I hope that after awhile here I'll discover something special that will light a spark in me. Hope you're all doing well and in good health

With love, Dora!

Welcome!

I'm not surprised you felt no connection to Christianity from attending only Catholic services. They are rather ceremonial and impersonal unless you have grown up in that tradition. If you are interested in Christianity, find a nearby Protestant church to attend, and you will probably find it more relatable. You won't learn about polygamy there, but you'll learn the Christian context within which we discuss it - which is actually far more important.

Welcome!

Welcome, Dora! This is probably going to seem quite alien to you, as you said, but you obviously had an interest in polygyny, or you wouldn’t have come here. Even so, the greater thing that could happen, my hope in fact, is that you find out why Jesus is so important. Again, welcome.

Welcome!
A recent testimony in the thread "how did you come to understand about polygamy" makes a case for both polygamy and a loving God who cares about us.

A verse in the scripture that I like is one that says that God who in times past spoke to us through prophets has spoken to us through His son. Jesus was the walking talking living and breathing communication from God.
Some Christian denominations may get you further then others, but just realizing that God IS, and that He rewards those that seek Him is a great place to start.

Hope you enjoy your time here.

Welcome and Shalom.

I’ve personally learned a lot through the fellowship here at Biblical Families over the years. There are some great people here that love God and genuinely love others. Always some deep edifying discussion going on.

Maybe, kind of depends on which group you visit. But you're certainly more likely to learn more about God and Christ there.

Since you're curious about it, my suggestion to you would be to read the scriptures. Start with the New Testament. Mark is a quick read; or Luke & Acts.

Welcome!
