....The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. What is it that actually constitutes the '"effectual fervent" :?: prayer? I guess I am askingsomeone to expound on "effectual?"

I can't speak for others, but I have found that understanding the heart of God seems to be a great place to start for effective prayer. All too often I have found that my "answer" to prayer was not about what I desired, but about my will changing to conform to the Almighty's. (Not that God won't give us our desires at times.)

The word effectual is energeo, where we get our words energy and active from. The word fervent is an implied there, which means passionate. So like this "The energetic passionate prayer of a righteous man availeth much." Be sure you nottice the three qualifiers, energetic, passionate and righteous.

It would seem to me that a good understanding would be that God hears and responds to real prayer from a heart that is enthusiatically surrendered to Him. No magical words to be said, no formula used can touch the heart of God like the honest, sincere requests of one of His loving, obedient children

Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU! I was just getting ready to ask what the underlying word was that was translated "effectual", as in my understanding that word is the RESULT rather than the source. *sigh*

Energetic, Passionate, and righteous. I can do two of those, and Jesus got my back on the third! Yeeeeeaaaaaa! :D

The keys and requirements for effective prayer

****1John 3:21 Beloved, if our heart may not condemn us, we have boldness toward God,
>>>>>>>>>22 and whatever we may ask, we receive from Him, because His commands we keep, and the things pleasing before Him we do, <<<<<<<<<
23 and this is His command, that we may believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and may love one another, even as He did give command to us, 24 and he who is keeping His commands, in Him he doth remain, and He in him; and in this we know that He doth remain in us, from the Spirit that He gave us. . . . 5:14 And this is the boldness that we have toward Him,
>>>>>>>>>that if anything we may ask according to his will, He doth hear us,<<<<<<<<<<<<
15 and if we have known that He doth hear us, whatever we may ask, we have known that we have the requests that we have requested from Him.

***Isa 58: 6 Isn't the fast I choose:
To break the chains of wickedness,
to untie the ropes of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free,
and to tear off every yoke?

7 Is it not to share your bread with the hungry,
to bring the poor and homeless into your house,
to clothe the naked when you see him,
and to not ignore your own flesh [and blood]?

8 Then your light will appear like the dawn,
and your recovery will come quickly.
Your righteousness will go before you,
and the LORD's glory will be your rear guard.

>>>>>>>>>>>9 At that time, when you call, the LORD will answer;
when you cry out, He will say: Here I am.<<<<<<<<<<<<
If you get rid of the yoke from those around you,
the finger-pointing and malicious speaking,

10 and if you offer yourself to the hungry,
and satisfy the afflicted one,
then your light will shine in the darkness,
and your night will be like noonday.

I know one thing and that is you have to start with a clean heart.
