We have decided to experience (at least one time) the Celestial Church of Christ. They seem a little out there , but they are a polygynous church organization that began in Nigeria (I believe). We have found that they have a few congregations in our area. Because they seem a little out there, I am sure we will not stay, but the fact that they embrace polygyny has made me too curious to avoid visiting. Here are some information for the curious:
Here is an article from the World Council of Churches (that we obviously do not support) about whether they can except the Celestial Church of Christ because they have pastors in their ranks who have more than one wife: http://www.wcc-coe.org/wcc/assembly/eju ... umber8.htm
Here is the main Celestial Church of Christ's website: http://www.celestialchurch.com/
Here is their USA websiste: http://www.celestialchurch-usdiocese.com/
Here are all their church locations in USA: http://www.celestialchurch-usdiocese.com/parishes.html
OK, I must admit, judging from what I have read, one has to be be pretty bold to visit, but the fact that they are here in the United States is quite interesting; and the fact that they have no problem with polygyny is quite interesting; and the fact that they have a number of churches operating in the US makes it even more interesting. Well, if nothing else, I want to ask them some questions about their views on marriage.
