Written to the Vancouver Sun in address to Daphne Bramham's column "THINK TANK" centered on polygamy in CANADA. The first one was never published so I sent it again, telling them they were a leftist news paper and defying them to publish it... They broke down and published it.
I really have my doubts about the capacity for objectivity this so-called "think tank" actually holds; but it is my opinion that this little missive isn't likely to be published on Daphne Bramham's Neo-Feminist Misandrist fan club's front page anyway. I just hope that sorry excuse of a champion for women's rights reads this.
Just the fact that the history of politicians denying the First Nations People their cultural RIGHTS to practice polygyny is enough to persuade me of its own merit that it is nothing more than self-righteous oppression on the behalf of control freak politicians to rob people of what was rightfully theirs to practice in the first place. The fact that polygyny has indeed thrived for thousands of years is proof enough that it represents legitimate culture, whether it be tribal or otherwise. The "boo-hoo-hoo-hoos" and sobs of deluded taxpayers worried about insurance claims and tax dollars literally bore me to ad museum. If your concerned about your tax dollar why do you support Wally Oppal’s Liberal agenda that wastes so much of your hard earned money on his lawyer friends?
Mark my words, the insurance companies have always been able to roll with the “punches†most of them make premium profits from the good fortunes of others while bolstering their rates with the misfortunes of the minority. For them, it is a win-win situation and business as usual. I should think that it certainly wouldn’t take them long to make a one claim per spouse policy if polygamy were legal — come now, let’s be realistic! I can hardly believe my eyes after reading so many impotent posts here that only lend strength to ignorance. Yeah, they make a lot of strong points, but smell isn’t everything. The logic here stinks to high heaven and is only to be outdone by the utter hypocrisy of those self-right accusers who would freely applaud “same sex marriage†and celebrate Vancouver’s swingers clubs while the streets are rife with teenage prostitution and gambling. Meanwhile, Mr. Oppal thinks it is of the utmost priority to go out to the country to ‘clean up’ when his own back yard reeks with the stench of legalized escort agencies. What a distraction! The Morality of Society is an old game these sorts of shysters love to play. Oh sure, legalize fornication but marriage is out of the question if they can’t make money from it. Does anyone here know what B.C.’s penalty for adultery is? — A slap on the wrist, perhaps? Not even.
Folks, what’s really going on here is a war for the ownership of your children — it’s the old political “smoke and mirrors†game and the issue really isn’t the real issue at all. This is something I’ve noticed that Daphne Bramham obviously avoids at every turn. It hardly surprises me that her politics support BIG GOV ideology and just as one hand washes the other, so it is that all this pandering to the party line consistently merits its own perks. I could go on, but the truth is simply just not that popular. The real reason BIG GOV doesn’t want legalized poly is because BIG GOV loses control when this happens. When families get big they actually learn to take care of themselves, provide for themselves, and establish themselves with less assistance from the grid than any other sort of culture imaginable. Now that sort of thing goes against the grain of the hard-core Liberal ethic that wants to keep us all as dependent on BIG GOV as possible. There. I said it and I defy your leftist newspaper to publish it.
