Books of Interest

I got Thelyhthora V1 and Ochinos Dialouge on polygamy just before I left on my trip. I finished the later and gave it away to a girl and I'm going thorough the former. Both excellent materials for polygamy discussion.

The World is Flat looks interesting enough, though I'm not sure I'd go for it myself.

I go to the library and to used book sales. i know it is harder to find the esoteric there and there are is lots of liberal limitations on what you can get at the library. One great book I read recently is Overtreated by Shannon Brownlee. She espouses Universal helath care at the end of the book but it is quite an expose!:

Also found a good one called : The Natural Family: A Manifesto- written by two guys it is about what in the world a "family" is. It talks about how the industrial revolution changed (and warped) the family. Unfortuneatly they have to plug monogamy in there a couple of times but lots of this book really affirms what the family is supposed to be as opposed to what people are trying to call "family" nowadays. Here's their website:

Also read Brooke Shields book about postpartum depression "Down Came The Rain", great book! Very ironic that througout her experience she didn't see it coming, she had every risk factor imaginable! Hindsight is really 20/20!! I am always reading maternity/lactation/midwifery stuff of course.

I am reading the 8th book in the A.D. Chronicles series by Bodie & Brock Thoene. I was given the first in this series as a gift. I was so moved by the rich characters that I could barely wait for the next book. The books are fiction but they give a deep insight into the way of life in the time that Jesus walked the earth. One of the books showed very graphically the murder of all the boys two and under when Herod was afraid of Christ's birth. It put such feeling in my heart because through the reading I had come to know some of the mothers and the story told about them trying to save their sons. I actually want to see if any ladies would like to read the first book together. Each of their books has a bible study area in the back that asks questions to make us think more deeply into God's word.

I am reading "World War Z" by Max Brooks (son of Mel Brooks) - http://www.amazon.com/World-War-Oral-Hi ... 0307346609

Brooks, the author of the determinedly straight-faced parody The Zombie Survival Guide (2003), returns in all seriousness to the zombie theme for his second outing, a future history in the style of Theodore Judson's Fitzpatrick's War. Brooks tells the story of the world's desperate battle against the zombie threat with a series of first-person accounts "as told to the author" by various characters around the world. A Chinese doctor encounters one of the earliest zombie cases at a time when the Chinese government is ruthlessly suppressing any information about the outbreak that will soon spread across the globe. The tale then follows the outbreak via testimony of smugglers, intelligence officials, military personnel and many others who struggle to defeat the zombie menace. Despite its implausible premise and choppy delivery, the novel is surprisingly hard to put down. The subtle, and not so subtle, jabs at various contemporary politicians and policies are an added bonus.

I am reading "The School of Obedience" by Andrew Murray.

"Secrets of a Prayer Warrior" by Derek Prince.

I'm reading it right now, and finding it to be the absolutely BEST book on prayer I've ever found -- and I've got a couple of bookshelves full. Really, really helpful.

Derek is usually quite thorough in his approach. He passed away recently, but I have always appreciated his ministry!

I had to dig for this one....I don't know how I find these things. I'm reading it with my hubby. We're only on chapter 2 so far...so we don't know what the whole outcome will be. It is a Novel. And warning!!!: This is not a Christian book as far as we can tell. So there might be a lot of disagreeable things in this book. But we are reading it out of curiosity. Anyone else ever read this book?

I am reading The Readers Digest Bible. It is the bible in story form so its easier to read. I have learned so much this way.

Some friends told me to read "The Richest Man in Babylon" so I found the Audio Book, and listened to it on my drive to AZ.
I was expecting a book strictly about finances. I was pleasantly surprised at how "fun" it was to listen to (I've read some really boring financial books).
